Day five of Watch Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Week is here! Today’s new index page has streaming videos of Little Kuriboh’s Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series! Links to all 45 episodes (thus far) of YGO: TAS, along with a select number of LK’s other video creations, are included. Whenever possible, I’ve linked to the videos uploaded onto YouTube, Revver, or Dailymotion by LK himself or by one of the YGO: TAS staff.

I must say, an index for streaming YGO: TAS videos on this site has long been overdue. The last time LK provided downloads of his high-quality videos was nearly eight months ago. As a result, my index for YGO: TAS downloads has been barren of new episodes.

It’s okay though, because there doesn’t seem to be much of a demand for downloadable YGO: TAS videos anyway. The YGO: TAS torrents are low on leechers. Requests for the YGO: TAS videos’ return to iTunes (which actually just provides the same videos uploaded onto Revver) are almost nonexistent. Everyone, myself included, seems happy streaming the videos. Hooray for instant gratification! Besides, download-lovers can always just rip the videos from YouTube, but I never saw much of a point in doing that.

I’m trying a new layout on my index for streaming YGO: TAS episodes that uses tables. Unfortunately, WordPress.com doesn’t seem to like tables very much, so if the index doesn’t look like the picture below, please let me know!

This is what the streaming YGO: TAS episodes index should look like

Bakura and his invisible gun in YGOTAS episode 37

Little Kuriboh has recently made high-quality versions of YGO: TAS episodes 33 through 39, along with Naruto: The Abridged Comedy Fandub Spoof Series Show and Without Yugi, available for download via BitTorrent. Please note that these are not low-quality flash videos ripped from YouTube. They’re gorgeous, Xvid-encoded AVI files with a 640×480 resolution (or in Without Yugi’s case, a 704×384 resolution).

For those of you who prefer direct downloads, I have uploaded these videos to MegaUpload and posted the links on my YGO: TAS page. All of the videos, except for episode 39, are also available on the YGO: TAS Revver channel if you prefer the MOV versions.

Strangely, high-quality versions of episodes 30-32, as well as some of the specials, have still not yet been made available. Maybe we’ll see them in the future. For now, go download these episodes and enjoy!

Just a heads up. Episode 38 of YGO Abridged has been uploaded to the official YGO: TAS Revver account. A link to the MOV version of the video hosted there is now up on my YGO Abridged page.

This is actually the second time that this episode has been added to Revver. An upload was added early yesterday, but was quickly removed just a few minutes afterwards. If you downloaded the episode then and experienced any technical difficulties, try downloading this new version.

Misc. News: LK ends Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged, begins Naruto Abridged

Naruto Abridged by Little Kuriboh
Believe it.

It’s the end of an era. Little Kuriboh announced today that he will no longer be working on Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. Instead, he will begin abridging the popular ninja anime series Naruto!

“It’s well documented that I freaking love Naruto,” says LK, “and since Yu-Gi-Oh isn’t working for me anymore, why not start over with something I like better?” Indeed, LK has a long-running relationship with the Naruto series. Back in late July of 2008, he made a video bashing YGO: TAS and proclaiming his love for Naruto Abridged. It was inevitable that he would one day be abridging Naruto himself.

The first episode of Little Kuriboh’s version of Naruto Abridged, or, more formally, “Naruto: The Abridged Comedy Fandub Spoof Series Show,” can be found on both YouTube and Revver. Interestingly, it seems to contain many callbacks to YGO: TAS. The theme song for the show is the “Master Ninja Theme Song” from episode 69 of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

A download link to the MOV version hosted on Revver has been added to my YGO: TAS page.

Update (May 19, 2009): This video was removed from YouTube due to a copyright claim by TV TOKYO Corporation. For now, it can still be found on Revver.

“Why so British?”

Episodes 35 and 37 of Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series have been uploaded to the YGO: TAS Revver account. Links to the MOVs hosted there are now available on my YGO: TAS page. Episode 37, “Single White Shemale,” is new. Episode 35, “A Tale of Two Tournies,” was added a few days ago, but a new version just went up on Revver earlier today. I never downloaded the first upload, so I don’t know if there were problems with the episode that prompted this reuploading.

Now all we need is for Little Kuriboh to upload the edited version of GUHROOGAMESH!!!1 and we’ll have all of his recent videos available for download!

Kaiba hard at work
Kaiba — definitely not a nameless cubicle office guy.

Another day, another message from the Nameless Cubicle Office Guy on 4Kids’ YouTube channel. Here are the Yu-Gi-Oh!-related announcements that went up on their comments section yesterday:

Hey – THX for the new subs & friends. Please SUBSCRIBE TO US AND ADD US A FRIEND. New episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! DM are coming soon. THX again for all the comments and suggestions! This week we’re going to respond to a few questions that were brought up repeatedly and directly to other topics. Don’t get mad if we don’t respond directly to everyone. Here goes:

1. We will continue to add more Yu-Gi-Oh! DM in both Japanese & US versions as we get them digitized and encoded on an ongoing basis. We have other studio work that takes priority – please be patient and SUBSCRIBE so you know when we do add new stuff. But it is coming soon.

2. WE’D LOVE to release Sonic X (and other titles for that matter) in its original Japanese form with and without English subtitles that are faithfully translated. Whether we can do this will be based on the response here and elsewhere on the interwebs to the 4K channel. Here’s a response verbatim sent to two users this week when they asked what can they do to get SonicX on YT in it’s original form (and applies to other titles as well):

2. Continued “Here’s what it will take:
*Watch what we post – watch it early and often. Then watch it some more. Get your friends to do the same. Repeat.
*Comments and suggestions are nice but not essential.
*Subscribe and friend the channel on YouTube.
*Embed videos, playlist & the channel on your blog or website.
*Write about the channel and shows on message boards, comments sections, etc. Link to the channel, playlists and videos. Do it some more. Repeat.
*Watch at http://www.4KidsTV.com & on the CW on Saturday mornings.”
In short WATCH, SUBSCRIBE, FRIEND US, SPREAD THE WORD!

[…]

6. US only restrictions are unfortunately the only way we could roll with Yu-Gi-Oh! original episodes on YT and other cool stuff we have planned. It is a VERY DIFFICULT SITUATION with all forms of entertainment and the interwebs. If you want to read more about the challenges facing everyone, copy the following link and read: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/23/business/media/23warner.html?_r=1&scp=3&sq=youtube&st=Search

[…]

8. We want to release Yu-Gi-Oh! Uncut versions on YT once they are digitized and encoded. Be patient as the queue is long. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

As you can see, both here and in previous messages, 4Kids is really emphasizing the importance of watching their shows and being actively involved with their YouTube channel. Yes, it’s very likely that the reason for this emphasis is that they want their shows to have viewers so that they can make money.

But, another possible reason is that the future of their Yu-Gi-Oh!-uploading project is dependent on the amount of support that they get from the fans. If many people subscribe to their channel and watch, comment on, discuss, and embed the Japanese videos, there will be a greater incentive for them to continue this project. They may even be able to expand on the project (for example, by adding subtitles to the videos). Greater support from the fans means that the folks working on this uploading project can go to their higher-ups and tell them that the project is successful, that fans want to see more of this, and that it isn’t a waste of time and money to be investing in it.

If there’s no support, this project could end at any time. One viewer, cohenmarioman, wrote this on 4Kids’ channel:

“Don’t worry about SonicX. Just keep on with the Yugioh episodes. And possibly release episodes from season 2, rather than season 1, due to higher intensity of action. THX”

And 4Kids responded with this:

“cohenmarioman: we would like to keep this EXPERIMENT going – see #2 above”

As you can see, 4Kids is calling this uploading project an “experiment.” It’s all the more reason to believe that they may stop doing it if there isn’t any support from the fans. So let’s continue to support them!

Moving to a slightly unrelated topic, for those of you who are wondering what sort of subtitles the Japanese videos would have (if they were to be added), 4Kids has provided us with a possible answer. A comment left by YoukaiRin on 4Kids’ channel asked the following question:

“If these Subtitles do ever materialize, will we be watching the Adventures of Yugi, Joey, Tristan and Tea, or will they be correct subtitles and will we be watching the Adventures of Yugi, Jonouchi, Honda, and Anzu?”

4Kids responded with:

YoukaiRin: we don’t know at this time but if they did, we’d push for faithful translations using the original character names

This, of course, is no guarantee, but it at least provides us with some comfort that the folks working on this project are looking out for the fans who want accurate subs. All the more reason we should support them!

Revver causes headaches.

Finally tonight, I’d like to point out that a MOV version of YGO: TAS, episode 36 — “The Man Who Would Be Steve” — is now available hosted on Revver. As usual, you can grab it from my YGO: TAS page.

Little Kuriboh noted in the comments of his YouTube channel that the delay in getting his videos onto the YGO: TAS Revver account has been due to technical problems. “Revver’s having major issues. No videos are going through,” he said. (If you are looking for this comment on his channel, you’ll have to dig deep. It’s two days old. :P) Thanks for the update, LK. We hope to see more videos on Revver soon!

How does Solid Snake always make it look so easy?

Even though Little Kuriboh had said yesterday that he wouldn’t be able to finish the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged episode until the end of next week, his plans changed. YGO: TAS episode 34, entitled “Dork Side of The Moon,” was released earlier today! Watch as Yugi and Kaiba go head-to-head with the Masks in a breathtaking duel where the loser will fall straight into the Shadow Realm! Meanwhile, Tea and Joey meet an attractive new friend, and Joey makes a hasty move that will change his life forever! Go check out the episode, found only on YouTube, right now!

In his most recent blog post, Little Kuriboh notes that this episode is Duke Devlin’s birthday present. And indeed, today, February 28, is Duke Devlin/Ryuuji Otogi’s birthday. Happy birthday!

Update (March 1): This episode can now also be viewed from YGO: TAS’ Revver account. A link to the downloadable MOV version hosted there has been added to my YGO: TAS Download page.

Why is it that no one has ever questioned how the killer whale was able to squeeze its massive body through that tiny hula hoop? Maybe this is just the product of an interesting camera angle.

Mako Tsunami returns in episode 33 of Little Kuriboh’s Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series, currently available only on YouTube. Listen to Mako as he tells the heart-wrenching tale of his crumbling relationship with the ocean. Will the two ever be together again? Meanwhile, a British Bakura and an evil Marik encounter each other in an alleyway and, upon learning that they share common enemy, decide to hang out. Afterall, “the enemy of my friend is also my enemy!” :D

In a blog post, Little Kuriboh gives his reasons for having an emotional ending to the episode. If you’re a softy, you might even shed a tear after watching this… T.T

As usual, once this episode makes it onto Revver, I’ll add a direct-download link for it on the YGO: TAS Download page.

Update (February 20): This episode can now also be found on Revver! A link to the MOV version that’s hosted there has been added to my YGO: TAS Download page.
