The owner of one of the rarest Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in existence is graciously putting it on display at a card shop in Japan — and on sale for a hefty price. Hassaku (@saku06s) is the owner of the “T3” Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, which was the first-place prize in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game Asia Championship of 2001. Only one copy of this card, sealed in a custom-made case, exists in the world and it was presented to the winner of that tournament.

Yesterday, Hassaku announced that the card is now on display at Card Shop Spiral, a trading card store in Akihabara. It is also available for purchase — for 45,000,000 yen, or about $400,000.

This isn’t the first time that this Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon has gone on the market. Hassaku first obtained the card in August 2016 and attempted to sell it for 999,000,000 yen (about $9 million). At the time, Hassaku included an autograph and sketch of Yugi from Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!. Takahashi presented the card to the tournament winner and apparently also created the sketch and signature right on the spot, explained Hassaku. After one week and no takers, Hassaku offered a 99 percent off discount, dropping the price to a measly 9,990,000 yen (about $90,000).

Some collectors must be kicking themselves for not buying it back then.

  1. Still waiting for Konami to reprint this artwork some time… They do seem to have the rights, as the T3 artworks appear in some of the more recent Tag Force games.

  2. We’re still not getting a redub for both GX and 5Ds? (Redub as in the final arcs.)
