Today, LittleKuriboh launched a brand new Let’s Play series featuring everyone’s favorite YGOTAS evil villain! “Marik Plays – Star Wars – Knights of the Fallen Empire” features the Midriffed One playing the latest expansion pack in the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG series. Marik allies himself with the “special snowflake” team and plays as one of the Thundercats. (Why not choose one of those “hentai people” instead?!) Sadly, the game did not allow his his username to be Neko Neko Marik.

This is only part 1 of the series and doesn’t yet show any actual gameplay, but don’t be put off by that. There are some real gems in this video, like hearing Marik sing about Bakura to the tune of the Main Theme of Star Wars. Sadly, Bakura himself doesn’t make an appearance, but since he’s in the video’s thumbnail, I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before he injects himself into the action.

Be sure to subscribe to LittleKuriboh’s YouTube channel to see more of this and his other Let’s Plays.

LK Anime Convention Update: SunnyCon

LittleKuriboh has added one more anime convention guest appearance to his 2016 line-up: SunnyCon in Newcastle upon Tyne, England! LK will be flying across the pond to take part in the con’s exciting fifth year between June 17 to 19. Also guesting at the event will be Marianne Miller, Johnny Yong Bosch, and TeamFourStar’s Lanipator, MasakoX, and Takahata101.

Which other cons is LK heading to this year? Check out the small but growing list on my page dedicated to LK’s anime con appearances.

[YGO: TAS] Episode 66 – United Sucks, Kaiba Plays FNAF2 Resumes

Yugi, Tea, Joey, and Tristan in YGOTAS episode 66
“Warning. Contains filler plot details.”

“Oh god, not another filler arc! The last one took like three years to get through!” Let’s hope not, Joey. LittleKuriboh seems to be making good time and staying on top of his Patreon promises. He just uploaded his newest video — Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged episode 66, “United Sucks” (on YouTube, TFS) — earlier today! Check it out!

As the planet gets overrun by real monsters, Yugi and the gang decide that it is perfectly safe to hop on a plane and make their way to Pegasus’ mysterious personal compound somewhere in California to get some answers. But all is not well with Pegasus when someone with an unfamiliar voice shows up unannounced at his office. Then, Kaiba receives word that Pegasus has been buying up all of Kaiba Corp.’s shares, and the only way for him to get them back is to duel Pegasus in a perfectly innocent, not-at-all creepy card game challenge. Yeesh!

Kaiba Plays FNAF2 Resumes

Earlier this year, LittleKuriboh launched a new Let’s Play series featuring Kaiba and the survival horror game Five Nights At Freddy’s 2. But after only one installment, the series seemed to have stalled… until now! Last week, LK started KAIBA PLAYS – Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 back up with episode 2. Does Kaiba fare any better this round, or do the cartoon bunnies get the best of him once again? Maybe he can get some words of wisdom from a certain fan of cartoon bunnies…

Will poor Kaiba ever make it through the night successfully? Subscribe to LK’s YouTube channel, CardGamesFTW, to find out how far LK will take it!

Patreon Changes

It was less than two weeks ago that LittleKuriboh reached his glorious $3,000 milestone on Patreon, sending him to “full-timer” status and allowing him to cut back on convention visits in favor of making more videos. But now, his monthly income seems to have dipped by nearly $500. What happened?

No, a bunch of patrons did not suddenly disappear. As it turns out, Patreon simply changed the way it displays pledges to show the exact income creators receive: the total amounts pledged less various processing fees. But have no fear. Even though he is no longer at the full-time tier, LK has been fulfilling his schedule for that tier anyway and will continue to do so for as long as he can.

Back on November 22, 2014, LittleKuriboh held a 16-hour live stream to raise money for Guardians of All Creatures, a southern California-based animal rescue that once helped him pay for his cat Spaghetti’s surgery. As donation incentive, LK offered to play Five Nights At Freddy’s for the first time ever if he reached $3,000 in donations. Well, he hit that milestone and today, LK makes good on the offer! Check out part 1 of “KAIBA PLAYS – Five Nights At Freddy’s 2” on YouTube!

Five Nights at Freddy’s and it’s sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, are point-and-click survival horror games released in 2014. In both games, the player assumes the role of a night security guard who must defend himself against creepy animatronic animals roaming the halls of a restaurant. If the thought of Kaiba getting double-teamed by murderous cartoon animals in the dead of night fills you with terror and excitement, check out this new Let’s Play series, and look for new episodes each week!

“Okay. Played FNAF2 for the first time and died on the first night. I’ve never played a FNAF game before. Do I suck?” asked LK while he was recording his gameplay. “I’m serious in that I’ve intentionally never exposed myself to any FNAF stuff before so this is all insane to me.”

Insane? That’s putting it mildly.

[YGO: TAS] LK Resumes ‘Marik Plays Slender: The Arrival’

Marik Plays Slender The Arrival artwork by Rivan145th
“There ain’t no party like a Slender Man party!”
Warning: Heart pills not provided. Viewer discretion is advised.

Ah, yes, the Slender Man. Back in 2012, Marik and Bakura were horrifyingly ravaged by the tall, featureless, well-dressed being in “Slender: The Eight Pages” (then simply titled “Slender”), a first-person survival horror game. Undaunted by the experience, the daring duo returned in 2013 to play “Slender: The Arrival” (on TFS, YouTube) the equally creepy sequel to the first title. But after that one 12-minute segment, we never learned whether Marik would ever be able to find out what became of Kate. Well, looks like there will be a conclusion after all, for LittleKuriboh has continued the series with “Marik Plays Slender: The Arrival – Part 2,” released today!

“Marik Plays Slender: The Arrival” is the first Let’s Play of a game that LittleKuriboh has ever completed, he said. This series will have five parts, so be sure to tune into TFS every Friday to see the new episode.

LK, a long-time fan of the Slender Man mythos, has also previously recorded himself playing Slender: The Eight Pages while his wife provided some hilarious drunk, profanity-laden commentary, as well as providing his own chapter to the Slender Man legend in the animated short Concrete Giraffes. He wrote a professional review of Slender: The Arrival in April 2013.

We’re Still Here

Serious non-Yu-Gi-Oh! time now. Followers of LittleKuriboh on social media know that the man has been struggling a lot over the past several months. LK has talked regularly about his battle against depression and suicide and how he decided to turn to group and individual therapy and medication for help. But this past Monday, LittleKuriboh began sharing his experiences and ongoing struggles with an even greater audience in “We’re Still Here,” a new vlog series. The series is part of his recovery process from depression, and although he will be talking about coping with the disorder, his series will also contain positive messages, experiences, memories, and passions.

“I’m hoping that simply by telling my story, it will help others who may recognize their own depression and seek help,” said LK. “The video was made haphazardly and obviously there’s going to be a lot of refinement down the line, but I intend to keep at it.”

In this first episode, LittleKuriboh highlights how his relationships, creativity, and well-being have taken a hit in the past six months. He then describes how he first met Team Four Star at Youmacon 2009, a very emotional and powerful story that he often shares at his convention appearances. Finally, he discusses how he decided to find help for his depression and the importance of doing so.

The decision to create this series didn’t come easy to LK.

Considering doing a video about my depression or just coping with depression in general, but I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” he wrote back in November. “I don’t just mean from a creative standpoint, I just don’t know if it’s a good idea to open that can of worms. I’ve talked about my depression on social media and got both positive and negative feedback. Some of the negative stuff very hostile. It feels like something I should maybe do when I feel ready to face a large, unfeeling crowd of people heh.”

If you suffer from depression, do give this series a shot. And if you find support in his words, by all means let him know. And even if you don’t suffer from depression or don’t know much about it, give this video a watch anyway. At the very least, maybe you will come away learning a little bit about the illness and a little more about the man who has brought so much entertainment to so many people.

LK plans to upload new episodes of “We’re Still Here” every Monday and hopes to continue the series even after he feels he has recovered.

What’s Coming Up Next from LittleKuriboh?

Aside from terrorizing Marik with scary video games, what else has LittleKuriboh been working on recently? Season 4 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged, that’s what! Along with the conclusion to the story of a certain council of evil villains… Oooh!

LK has been hard at work on YGOTAS episode 64 and has already begun recording. He “guarantees” that Takahata101 will appear as Dartz.

Furthermore, LK has begun filming a new live-action comedic project and hopes to release it this weekend.

And finally, LK announced yesterday that he finally figured out how to make custom YouTube URLs. The “LittleKuriboh” YouTube channel is back! Fans can now find his channel at: http://www.youtube.com/c/LittleKuribohChannel

The old CardGamesFTW name and URL still work, too.

[YGO: TAS] Marik Plays Ground Zeroes

Title card for LittleKuriboh's Marik Plays Ground Zeroes episode 1

Marik has fired up a new game in LittleKuriboh’s latest Let’s Play project: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes! What sorts of craziness might Marik encounter as he infiltrates a shady Cuban prison in this newest title from Konami’s Metal Gear series? A grizzled hero? Check. A leaky Paz? Check. The villain from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Check. Kiefer Sutherland doing butt mo-cap for Snake? Check! The only thing that’s missing is some background snark from Bakura.

“If you liked Foxy Boxes, wait till you see the things Marik can do with a box in the world of Metal Gear Solid,” said LittleKuriboh.

LK began recording his gameplay earlier this year. Unlike Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, Ground Zeroes is a very short game, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if he’s nearly finished playing and editing this project already.

LK Returns to Anime Revolution

If you live in the Las Vegas Valley and missed out on seeing LittleKuriboh when he visited earlier this year, you’ll get second chance tomorrow, December 21! LK is returning to Anime Revolution, a retail store for all things anime located at Town Square shopping center. LK will be hanging out and signing autographs from 6 pm to 9 pm PST. And while you’re there, why not pick up some special last-minute gifts for the otaku in your life? Everything in the store is 15 percent off!

This will be LK’s second appearance at Anime Revolution. He first dropped by back in July for a fun meet and greet.

Title card for LittleKuriboh's Marik Plays Bloodlines episode 11

It’s been almost one year since Marik last powered up his PC and settled down for a game of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, but he’s back! Today, LittleKuriboh’s Let’s Play series featuring everyone’s favorite Egyptian villain returned with episode 11, “Face/Off”! What crazy antics will Marik get into this time? Will he build a rapport with a fellow evil, sexy, blond megalomaniac with a split personality? Will there be characters wearing hot pants? Or will Marik just be enjoying the city’s many back alleys and rear entrances? Spoiler: Some deadly frenching goes on.

LittleKuriboh is committed to keeping Marik Plays as a regular thing, having already recorded enough content for several new episodes.

“Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines’ just got patched to 9.0 – Jesus, has a game ever had this committed a fanbase for fixing its problems?” asked LK back in May. “I’m gonna patch the game and add a bunch of mods that make it considerably prettier for the next time I record footage for it. Which may be sooner than you all think. I’ve actually recorded all the way to getting out of Santa Monica already, which is enough for another 5 or 6 videos.”

At a few of his convention panels earlier this year, LK confirmed that he has built up a healthy cache of Marik Plays and hopes to release them on a consistent weekly basis.

Keep it tuned to TeamFourStar.com to see more of LK’s Let’s Play videos.

LittleKuriboh first began publishing Let’s Plays in December 2010, releasing episode 1 of Marik Plays Bloodlines and himself playing the comic book-style game Red Hawk for the Commodore 64 to his YouTube channel ObeyMyRod.

LK’s Super Anime Convention Appearance Update

Yesterday, Marianne Miller posted a huge list of LittleKuriboh’s convention appearances for 2015. They include conventions like MTAC, which had previously announced LK as a guest but had only recently finalized the event’s date and venue, and completely new announcements like Anime Expo.

Here are LK’s 2015 stops from the post:

There are more announcements to come, but don’t be too surprised if LK doesn’t make as many appearances as he’s done in previous years.

“Gonna be super happy when we cut back on cons next year and don’t have to deal with leaving multiple times a month,” tweeted Marianne earlier this year.

LK has one more stop to make before the end of this year: Yama-Con in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee from December 5 through 7.

See a list of all of his previously announced stops on my page for LK’s Anime Convention Schedule.

LittleKuriboh Con Update: FANdom Con 2014, Anime Revolution, New Video Projects

FANdom Con 2014's banner on Facebook

Thought LittleKuriboh’s 2014 anime convention schedule was finalized? Nope! Add another stop in Florida to the mix. LK will be attending FANdom Con in Fort Walton Beach, Florida as a guest from November 7 through 9.

Now in its fifth year, FANdom Con will also be welcoming fellow voice actors Scott McNeil, Chuck Huber, and Robert Axelrod as guests.

LK at Anime Revolution in Las Vegas

If you’re in the Las Vegas Valley tomorrow, July 26, and want to see LittleKuriboh, you’re in luck! LK will be stopping by the Anime Revolution store in Las Vegas, Nevada from 6 pm to 9 pm PDT for a super-special meet and greet. This is the first time LK has booked an appearance at a retail location.

Anime Revolution is located at Town Square shopping center. The store specializes in anime goods, cosplay, and clothing. Hooray for supporting small businesses, LK!

“Where’s the New Episode?!”

Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged fans who have met up with LittleKuriboh at his recent anime convention visits know that he has screened the completed video of YGOTAS episode 62. So, in the eternal words of the baby Kurama monsters from Cr@psule Monsters 2: “Where’s the new episode?!”

“For those of you wondering where my new content is – your patience will be rewarded soon. I promise,” LittleKuriboh tweeted earlier this week. “I’m waiting on a few things, but trust me, you’ll be seeing a lot more LittleKuriboh material. And you’ll like what you see. I’ve actually been very hard at work on a number of projects, and hopefully the work will pay off by entertaining all of you.” What new material might we get…?

At a few of his recent panels, LK revealed to attendees that he has recorded numerous new episodes of his Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines Let’s Play videos. By building up a healthy reserve, he hopes to release them on a weekly basis in the near future. At A-Kon 25 in June, LK also noted that he has begun recording a new Let’s Play series featuring Marik playing Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Sounds exciting! Hope to see both of these projects (and perhaps even more) very soon.

Title screen from LK's Marik Plays Mass Effect video
“If you have a space problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them in space, maybe you can hire… The Space Team.”

I’m loving these Let’s Play convention promos. We’re getting the fun of Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged and Let’s Play videos, an anime con announcement, and the variety and humor that comes with Little Kuriboh’s projects, all in one video! Yesterday, LK uploaded “Marik Plays Mass Effect,” a promo for his upcoming guest appearance at MomoCon. Why Mass Effect? As it turns out, both Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, the female and male voices of Mass Effect’s Command Shepard, were invited to the con!

As a fun bonus, LK has also posted an extended 17-minute version of Marik’s Let’s Play video (minus the con promo) on Blip.tv. Nice!

MomoCon will take place from March 8 through 10 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Hilton Atlanta.

LK Confirmed for Alcon 2013

Great news for YGOTAS fans across the pond! Alcon has announced that Little Kuriboh will be returning to Leicester, England later this year for another exciting convention! This will be LK’s fifth appearance at the Anime League event.

Since September 2012, Alcon staff and attendees have made a big push to try to raise enough money to pay for LK’s and other famed abridgers and special guests’ invitations to this year’s event. You can support their cause on GoFundMe, where they are still quite a ways away from their goal of £6,000 (that’s over 9,000 U.S. dollars!). Give them a hand if you’d like to see some crazy abridged stuff at this year’s event!

Alcon 2013 will take place between September 5 and 8. Registration just kicked off two days ago!

Update (February 12): “We have had to make a new donations page,” tweets the head of the fundraising initiative. The new GoFundMe page is at http://www.gofundme.com/Abridgerstoalcon2013. The £800 raised by the old account was added to the new page.

Game footage from YAMI PLAYS FALLOUT 3 - PMX Promo
The Power of the Atem

Hey, it’s another Let’s Play anime con promo from Little Kuriboh! This time, Yami takes the controls for some post-apocalyptic fun in Fallout 3 (on YouTube, Blip.tv)! Nice to see that the coldest and most unfeeling wasteland can be brightened up by the appearance of a metal Kuriboh. And, whoa, does Yami sound super British in this video or what?

LK reminds his fans that he will be an industry guest at Pacific Media Expo 2012 in Los Angeles on Veteran’s Day weekend, November 9 through 11.

Another Convention Update: Sakura-Con

Speaking of anime cons, LK has revealed that he will be attending Sakura-Con 2013! Has he been invited as a guest, or is he attending on his own? So far, Sakura-Con has only announced Vic Migderpaderp Mignogna as a guest. Did LK accidentally let slip the con’s plans to invite him?

Regardless, it’s a welcome announcement for fans in Seattle, Washington. GUHROOGAMESH!!!1

Let’s Play Left 4 Dead 2

And speaking of Let’s Plays, check out Little Kuriboh and blackrose1m playing Left 4 Dead 2 together in “Married With Zombies – Dead Center”: part 1, 2, 3, 4

What game should LK play next? And what character should he play it as?

[YGO: TAS] It’s Always Sunny In Domino / ARMAGEDDON EXPO 2012 – [CON PROMO] / Podcasts & More

Kaiba winking at Joey in It's Always Sunny In Domino by Little Kuriboh
“That CEO guy. He totally besmirched me today, and I demand satisfaction!”

Two new videos from Little Kuriboh in one day? Yep, yesterday was a good, good day. First was “It’s Always Sunny In Domino” (on YouTube, Blip.tv), where Joey seeks to regain his good name by dueling The CEO. This video even made it onto TokyoPop‘s radar earlier this afternoon!

Then, LK uploaded “ARMAGEDDON EXPO 2012 – [CON PROMO]” (on YouTube, Blip.tv), where we meet a bunch of people who will not be at Armageddon Expo 2012 in Melbourne, Australia (held on October 13 and 14) and Auckland, New Zealand (held on October 19 to 22). LK will be there though! Marik’s vocals make a special appearance in the video, singing “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”

…What’s that you say? You want to hear more of Marik? LK’s got you covered.

Catching Up: LK on the Bancast, Wha-Chow!, GameOn

Since I last covered Little Kuriboh’s ever numerous interviews and podcast appearances, LK has made several stops on some familiar and new podcasts. Here are a few highlights:

August 1: LK visited The Bancast for a second time and had an awesome chat with hosts Trunks and Levi, literally. LK first appeared on The Bancast earlier this year on March 13.

August 12: LK joined Psyguy, Gabby, Trunks, Egoraptor, and blackrose1m for a live recording of Wha-Chow! at San Japan! Not bad, but on a scale of 1 through 10, I will only rate this Wha-Chow! a potato. I’m guessing the true madness of what a live Wha-Chow! could be will be unleashed at their panel this November at Youmacon, which most of the podcast’s regulars will be attending. Consider this recording at San Japan a dry run…

August 13: LK met up with Trunks and Levi again for a live recording of The Bancast at San Japan. The trio take on ridiculous questions submitted by fans on Tumblr and at their booths while indulging in A&W Cream Soda.

August 20: LK sat down for a 15-minute interview with Jeff Johnson on the 20th episode of the GameOn podcast. In addition to some typical interview questions, LK discusses what sort of video he would make if he ever were to meet Dan Green. I’m truly looking forward to that day…

To hear more chats with LK, check out his other interviews and Q&As that I’ve followed.

LK Plays Slender

LK has added another game to his repository of live stream/let’s play videos, taking on the recently released Slender while blackrose1m commentates.

If you aren’t completely creeped out by the gangly, faceless Slender Man, check out the action on YouTube: part 1, 2

LK’s Convention Update

“Got a lot of awesome cons lined up for next year already,” LK tweeted last week. “Some are cons I go to every year, some are brand new first year cons.”

His newly confirmed guest appearances include a debut at AlmaCon in Alma, Michigan between February 8 to 10. AlmaCon is a free event organized by the Alma College Otaku and Gamers club. The 2013 convention will only be the third time the event is being held, but big names like Chris Sabat, Tiffany Grant, and Eric Vale will all be guesting there with LK.

LK will also make a glorious return to MomoCon, to be held from March 8 to 10, in Atlanta, Georgia. LK was the convention’s first 2013 guest announcement.

LK has expressed interest in returning to next year’s Otakon event as well.

As for what he’s working on in the immediate future, looks like YGOTAS episode 57 is already in progress.
