[YGO: TAS] CardGamesFTW Terminated from YouTube… Again

Marik feels a dark force welling up inside him in episode 89

Banned. Suspended. Terminated. Call it whatever you want, but it’s happened once again to Little Kuriboh’s YouTube account, CardGamesFTW. Visiting the channel will present you with an all-too-familiar message: “YouTube account CardGamesFTW has been terminated because we received multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement.” Who’s the culprit behind this egregious undertaking? Nihon Ad Systems, Inc. (NAS), one of the Japanese production companies behind the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. More specifically, it was the company’s “bot,” as LK calls it, that was responsible.

Little Kuriboh has confirmed that CardGamesFTW had received one too many strikes, leading to its termination. Two days ago, some of LK’s videos were yanked from YouTube, resulting in at least one strike for the account. Earlier today, the account received its final strike. Coincidentally, the incident occurred mere moments after Little Kuriboh uploaded “A BRIEF HISTORY OF TRISTAN.” The video, which he later played for the audience attending his live stream, contains only original artwork by indecisivepancake and was unlikely to have been the recipient of the third strike that brought down the channel.

In the meantime, LK encourages his fans to check out another of his YouTube accounts, Ninjabridge. “Until my main account comes back, this will be my alternate,” he wrote in a bulletin post on that channel.

Even though Little Kuriboh notes that having a terminated account restored is a relatively straightforward (albeit time-consuming) process these days, one can’t help but wonder what the exact circumstances are that keep leading to these account deletions. Are the same videos being repeatedly marked as copyright violations for the exact same reason by the same process (“bot”) each time? If so, aren’t there any provisions in place to prevent these “double jeopardy” occurrences? A user should not have to go through the tiresome task of filing a counter-notification every time his video is removed, only to risk having it marked as a violation for the same reason once it’s restored. Certainly these situations couldn’t be happening… right?

Perhaps it’s time Little Kuriboh consider leaving YouTube. Yes, fans are irritated by these events, but one can only imagine how devastated LK must feel each time he realizes that another one of his videos has been pulled from YouTube. Are these incidents taking their toll on the man himself? And where would he go to share his videos with his fans if not YouTube? Fortunately, we already have an answer to that second question: Blip.tv.

The official Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Blip.tv channel already houses every YGOTAS episode as well as all of LK’s major video projects. And while both YouTube and Blip.tv have some similarities, only the latter offers direct downloading of the original videos and provides an avenue for iTunes distribution. Additionally, Blip.tv allows all of a channel’s videos to be shared using one embedded player, a feature that the official YGOTAS fansite takes full advantage of.

So while CardGamesFTW remains out of commission for the next few days or weeks, take comfort in knowing that there’s already another official and fantastic source with Little Kuriboh’s videos. My YGOTAS downloads and streams pages have all of the respective links. And if LK does one day decide to leave YouTube and make Blip.tv his primary home, we’ll understand, won’t we? After all, LK only wants to share his works with the world and make others laugh — preferably without being hassled.

[YGO: TAS] Neko Porno – for shadowwolf, The Infinite Losers, & More Copyright Problems

Catboy Marik and Bakura in Neko Porno by Little Kuriboh

Lots of goodies from Little Kuriboh! First is the product of one of LK’s famous charity auctions: Neko Porno. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. This video was made especially for the auction winner, shadowwolf. Stream it on YouTube or Blip.tv, or download it as an AVI or M4V. Oh, and the video also happens to contain Bakura’s email address. Don’t do anything reckless now.

Like the What Would Yugi Do? charity auction video from last year, Neko Porno puts the poor Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged characters in some compromising situations, though this new video is quite a bit more explicit! Of all the possible topics people could ask LK to make a video of, in the end, it simply must be about yoai doesn’t it? If LK holds another charity auction this year for a chance at a custom video, you know we’re going to get another one of these. My prediction? A puppyshipping fanfic. Just watch!

Little Kuriboh has also announced that he’s part of the new iRiff group The Infinite Losers! Their first riff will be Death Note, the live-action film. LK often works on a lot of non-YGOTAS stuff that I never mention, but this project I just had to bring up because Kyle Hebert is in on it. No kidding! More collabs with voice actors please! The full audio track will be available on March 1. If you like MST3K, this might be worth checking out!

LK has also uploaded an MP3 of a very special version of the Evangelion theme song. I don’t quite remember, but I think this is one of the many songs that he’s played during his live streams. The song is also covered by blackrose1m (Marianne Miller).

Finally, in less delightful news, LK informed everyone this morning that more of his YGOTAS videos have been pulled from CardGamesFTW. “A large number of my episodes just got taken down by a copyright claim bot,” he wrote in a bulletin post on his channel, “but all the episodes are available to watch at http://www.yugiohabridged.com.”

Even before this new blitz against his channel, there had still been some yanked videos that hadn’t even been restored yet after CardGamesFTW was deleted over Christmas. LK must be exasperated from all this.

Well, you know the drill by now. In addition to watching the episodes embedded on the official YGOTAS fansite, you can also find them directly on the official YGOTAS Blip.tv account. All of the links are on my page for streaming YGOTAS episodes.

Little Kuriboh during his interview with the @rcade at Akumakon

Last month, Little Kuriboh visited Ireland for the very first time and attended Akumakon, a new anime convention held in Galway. There, he sat down with the @rcade for a short interview, which was just posted to their website yesterday. Check it out!

If you’ve never watched or listened to one of Little Kuriboh’s interviews, this is a great one to start with. LK answers many popularly asked questions, like where he got the idea for Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series, how he reacted to the show’s popularity, and what his experiences are in doing funny voices. He also talks about his familiarity (or lack thereof) with the real-life trading card game, his favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! character, and what he has in store for the abridged series. All this and more in about 11 minutes!

If you like what you see and want to learn more about LK, check out my list of interviews and Q&As with Little Kuriboh for all of his past sit-down conversations that I’ve followed.

The @rcade is a young Irish website dedicated to “all things gamer and geek.”

[YGO: TAS] Marik Watches Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s / Turkey Legs Returns: Another Dragon Ball Z Abridged

Title card of Another Dragon Ball Z Abridged by Turkey Legs/Chicknwings

Turkey Legs is back, and with his very own abridged series no less: Another Dragon Ball Z Abridged (ADBZA)! Apparently, he, not Team Four Star, was the originator of the DBZ Abridged series. Who woulda thunk?

Okay, fine, it’s just Turkey Legs dubbing Chicknwings’ real ADBZA. I was actually really confused when it first came on because I thought it was really Chicknwings’ version, haha. Well done, LK. Little Kuriboh first showed the video during a “super secret stream” on blogTV today before making it available on YouTube.

But the real secret stream was a preview of a project that Little Kuriboh told no one about: Marik watching and commentating on the first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s! LK has completed about half of the episode and showcased it after Turkey Legs’ video. There’s no word yet on when the full episode will premiere.

The live stream was also highlighted by more gameplay, funky LK and ShadyVox music, and a bad fanfic.

Dartz in Little Kuriboh's KAMI-CON! - Miller Time promo
“Dis Bud’s faw youuu.”

Who’s Marianne Miller? Meh. I think the better question is this: why is Dartz so obsessed with Kami-Con? He doesn’t ever seem to be revved up about other conventions, like Anime Expo, Otakon, or even Comic-Con (not Kami-Con!).

Anyway, check Dartz out in Little Kuriboh’s latest video, “KAMI-CON! – Miller Time” (on YouTube, Blip.tv), complete with a head full of new hues! Or, download the video from Blip.tv.

Artwork of Yami and Kyle Hebert by Kirbopher

Hey, we haven’t seen one of these in a while now: a new convention promo (on YouTube, Blip.tv) by Little Kuriboh, this time for Kami-Con! Not only that, but LK also squeezed some big-name anime voice actors into the video, too! Kyle Hebert, Johnny Yong Bosch, and relative newcomer Micah Solusod all lent LK their voices and will be special guests at the con (no Vic Migderpaderp this year though).

The video is also available for download via Blip.tv in AVI and M4V formats.

Kami-Con Season 3 will take place next weekend, February 19 and 20, at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Admission is free!

The special appearance of Hebert, Bosch, and Solusod in the video was first mentioned by Little Kuriboh last Thursday during his first live gaming session on blogTV. When asked about creating a promo for Kami-Con, LK casually name-dropped the three VAs to a crowd of surprised viewers. (These live streams, by the way, might be replacing his regular Let’s Play videos, says LK, so keep your eyes peeled for more!)

Jaden Yuki packing heat in JADEN'S RAP by Little Kuriboh and ShadyVox

The Lonely Island soothes the soul. ShadyVox returns as the ever-popular Jaden Yuki in “JADEN’S RAP~!” (on YouTube, Blip.tv), a collaboration with Little Kuriboh released yesterday. The piece is written by ShadyVox and directed by LK.

In something of a unique move, Little Kuriboh has uploaded three different MP3s of the song to Sendspace in a ZIP file: a clean version (with bleeps, as seen in the video), an uncensored version (without the bleeps), and a “super-clean” version (a radio edit, basically). The lyrics are also included in the archive. The AMV is available for download via Blip.tv.

“JADEN’S RAP~!” is a take off of The Lonely Island’s “Natalie’s Rap.” Three other titles from the comedy troupe have also gotten special attention from Little Kuriboh: “Lazy Sunday,” “I’m On A Boat (ft. T-Pain),” and “Who Said We’re Wack?” Which of their songs might be next in line to receive LK’s royal treatment? Incredibad, perhaps?

[YGO: TAS] YGO 3D MOVIE – February 26th

January 15, 2011 at 5:31 am | Posted in Bonds Beyond Time, Duel Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series | 4 Comments

Joey, Yugi, and their friends watch a video from Pegasus about the Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D movie

“Man. 4Kids need to send out VHS tapes a la ‘Invitation To Duelist Kingdom’ with Pegasus promoting the new movie,” wrote Little Kuriboh. “So old school.” LK, doing what he does best, took that creative idea into his own hands and ran with it, making his own promo for the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th anniversary film’s U.S. premiere!

Check out LK’s trailer for Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time (on YouTube, Blip.tv), where Pegasus invites Yugi and his friends to check out the second-greatest movie of all time! It’s also available for download via Blip.tv in AVI and M4V formats.

Now that Little Kuriboh has made a video about it, expect the film to gross 200 percent higher than the original estimates! (It’s funny because it’s going to be true.)

Don’t forget to check Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D’s official website for the real trailer and all of the latest information about the movie!

And while you’re at it, check out LK’s other recently uploaded video, “Snot Him!” on YouTube for a quick laugh!

Update (January 18): Here’s another trailer by LK: “YGO 5Ds… in 3D!?” Not quite as spectacular as his first, but… well… the punchline… I think I actually made some sort of face when I heard it.

Little Kuriboh and Yugi in the Without Yugi AMV
Guess who’s back? Back again! LK’s back! Tell a friend!

CardGamesFTW, Little Kuriboh’s primary YouTube account, has returned! Hooray! The channel was restored yesterday evening to all its former glory… almost. A few videos, all of which received a copyright claim from Nihon Ad Systems, Inc., remain unavailable as of this writing. LK is aware of the issue and is “working on it.”

This afternoon, LK noted in a bulletin post on his channel that CardGamesFTW “was taken down by bots. Nobody is the enemy. It’s all automated. Let’s all just be happy the channel’s back and focus on the future.” Sounds good. So don your leather pants and party hard, but not too hard! Lest we forget the ultimate fate of the original LittleKuriboh account after it was killed and resurrected back in 2007…

Update (January 8): What better way to celebrate CardGamesFTW’s return than with a new song and AMV? “Crash Test Yami (We’re Back!)” is streaming on YouTube and Blip.tv and is also available for download! Leave it to Little Kuriboh to mold the Crash Test Dummies’ “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” — regularly labeled as one of the worst songs ever made — into some YGOTAS madness! LK also took the opportunity to highlight his first convention appearances of 2011: Ireland’s Akumakon on January 21 to 23 and London Anime Con on February 5 and 6.

[YGO: TAS] Little Kuriboh Talks 2011 & More on 91.8 The Fan

Yugi holding a special card from Pegasus in episode 148

What’s this about Little Kuriboh working on a new audio project with some professionals? He’s been planning a special short OVA project with other abridgers, too? What conventions will LK be visiting this year? Why was CardGamesFTW banned from YouTube? And what’s this about a Christmas Let’s Play video featuring Bakura that never got made?! Little Kuriboh tells all when he visited 91.8 The Fan yesterday for a new interview and to celebrate the Internet radio station’s one-year birthday! Kirbopher also pops in, joining LK and host Kanashimi to reminisce about their favorite 91.8 interviews and chat about video games, movies, and fandom.

Check it out! You can download an MP3 of the interview via MegaUpload (Note: See the update below), which I’ll keep here until 91.8 The Fan uploads their official copy, probably by the end of the week. Many thanks goes to Fox for preparing this recording.

Be sure to listen to the very end, where Little Kuriboh and Kirbopher prepare meticulously to record a commercial bumper for the radio station, only to have LK hilariously foul it up. Don’t worry, LK, no one’s getting fined for profanity. The government doesn’t regulate Internet radio!

Little Kuriboh first appeared on 91.8 The Fan almost exactly one year ago. This latest session joins my list of interviews and Q&As with LK.

Update: That was fast. The interview has been posted on 91.8 The Fan’s website!
