Over half a year has elapsed since First 4 Figures has announced any significant developments with its Yu-Gi-Oh! products. In April, the high-end collectibles maker revealed that it had completely redone its Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician sculpts, a move that transformed the look of the monsters for the better at the cost of delaying their launch. Since then, the company has submitted those designs to Konami for approval and the two have been working together to prepare for production. In November, F4F’s CEO Alex Davis at last provided some promising updates about their progress.

“I just got the a-okay finally on one piece at 3D,” said Davis in his November 15 Q&A live stream. “We’ve reworked that a couple of times as well.”

Davis provided further details on November 23 in a comment in the F4F Official Collectors Club on Facebook. (Note: Admin approval is necessary to view this group.)

“This project [has] been challenging — but we’re now moving to the physical on BEWD [Blue-Eyes White Dragon] and DM [Dark Magician],” Davis wrote. “DMG [Dark Magician Girl] 2D concept is now done and looks sick — moving to 3D on that.”

To date, Davis has not provided any images of Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician’s new designs. But with these latest comments underscoring their progress, we can only hope that he is ready to provide a tease next before printing the prototypes.
