Funimation today announced that it has acquired Manga Entertainment UK, a London-based anime licensor and distributor. Manga UK is the current distributor of all Yu-Gi-Oh! anime on home video in the United Kingdom and has also brought Yu-Gi-Oh! movies to theaters throughout the country. The company offers some Yu-Gi-Oh! Blu-ray and DVD products that are not available in other markets, like the remastered version of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light and Yu-Gi-Oh! movie bundles.

Manga UK confirmed that there will be no changes to its Manga UK brand and that its employees still remain with the company.

Funimation was the distributor of Yu-Gi-Oh! on home video in the United States until 2009.

  1. I hope Funimation can get a Uncut version onto the market now that they have the rights in the UK. I would for sure by a UK DVD player if they only released it there.

  2. Manga UK (and Funimation) only distributes Yu-Gi-Oh! — it only sells what it receives from Konami. All of the decision-making about what to sell is still up to Konami, so if you want to see an uncut version for sale, be sure to let Konami know and keep watching them on Crunchyroll. The more popular they are, the greater the chances of seeing a home video release.
