Eve asking Yuto if he wants to be with Yuya in Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V manga chapter 34

Yuto stares up at Eve’s three legendary monsters. With their abilities to recover Eve’s life points, clear her opponent’s field, and inflict effect damage to her opponent, his chances of winning seem bleak. Nevertheless, he pushes on with determination in his fierce eyes. Yuto summons Dark Anthelion Dragon, powering it up with its attack-boosting effect and further supporting it with an Equip Spell.

Meanwhile, Yuya, having withdrawn into the recesses of his mind to recover, finds himself in front of a network of roots and glowing orbs in the ground. He sees that these roots have twined and twisted together, forming a mountainous tree off in the distance in front of him. There is a pulsating sensation all around him — it’s the Adam Factor. Yuya wonders why he and Reiji Akaba have the trigger inside them that will awaken Adam. Yuya sadly recalls the destructive final moments of his future following the World Illusion and his escape from that era. He then looks down at one of the glowing orbs.

Yuri and Yugo get a jolt; they sense that Yuya is at the Adam Factor. The pair speed off after Yuya on Yugo’s Duel Runner, but they’re too late. The painful memories that they’ve worked so hard to destroy have been reconstructed by the Adam Factor. And Yuya has at last stumbled upon them.

Back at the duel, Yuto has managed to wound Eve with Dark Anthelion. But Eve uses her legendary monsters’ effects to regain her life points and decrease Yuto’s, putting him in an even worse spot than before. Eve tells Yuto that if he wants to protect Yuya, he needs to hand over the Adam Factor.

Yuya reemerges, taking control of his body again. He thanks Yuto for giving him time to steel himself. All this time, he had believed that the effects of the World Illusion had tampered with his mind and fragmented his personality. But the glowing orb has shown the truth to Yuya.

He, Yuri, Yugo, and Yuto were brothers.

Thoughts

I think I’m going to cry…

Young Yuri, Yuya, Yugo, and Yuto with Yusho Sakaki in Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V manga chapter 34

They are so small, so cute, so innocent.

So did Yuya’s brothers die during the World Illusion? Eve calls Yuto “Yuya Sakaki’s tragic guardian,” so something terrible must have happened. But their personalities became bonded with Yuya’s, at least keeping that part of them alive.

Whatever tragedy befell them, they’ve worked so hard to prevent Yuya from remembering it. But now, it’s all starting to fall apart. It’s heartbreaking to see the brothers fail like this, but the story needs for Yuya to discover the truth in order to move forward. This also adds another layer of mystery to Eve since she is apparently aware of all that has happened and is even willing to spill the truth during the duel. Yuya needs to beat her.

Hello, Yuzu fan service. With all of the Sora fan service in previous chapters, I guess balance is needed. Kurosaki and Sawatari, who haven’t seen much of the spotlight recently, seem like the perfect “lucky pervert” types, hahaha.
