Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS character Takeru Homura and his avatar Soulburner

Four new characters are joining the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime in April! That’s the word from the official Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh! news website YU-GI-OH.jp, which today introduced the characters and their voice actors.

First up is Takeru Homura, played by Yuki Kaji (Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia, Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan). Homura, pictured above left, is a boy wearing the same school uniform as Yusaku. In Link VRAINS, he transforms into the fiery avatar Soulburner.

Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS character Flame

Accompanying Homura is a new Ignis AI character named Flame, voiced by Taku Yashiro (Battle Beast in Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, Naoto Azuma/Tiger Mask in Tiger Mask W). Although its name is pronounced like the English word “flame,” the kanji making up his name means “without a vision” or “no revelatory dream.”

Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS characters Boman and Haru

Boman (romanized name is not official), pictured above left, is a new duelist with a mysterious aura. He is voiced by Kenji Matsuda (Zebra in Toriko).

And last but not least is Haru (romanized name is not official), pictured above right, a perplexing boy who tags along with Boman. Haru is played by Ryoko Shiraishi (Hayate Ayasaki in Hayate the Combat Butler, Asuka Kazama in the Tekken video game series).

  1. I love how one or two hair colors is not good enough for Yu-Gi-Oh! characters anymore. Now the standard is three or even four. (Good luck, cosplayers! lol.)

This looks exciting! I’m surprised they were able to get such a big name for Homura/Soulburner. I’m guessing he’s going to be a pretty big deal?

Also, wow, I thought Bommer from 5D’s had impressive abs, but this new guy has him beat!

  2. Impressive hair and impressive voice actor? Definitely gonna be a big deal. The abs guy looks like a bishie wrestler. I guess Go Onizuka wasn’t popular enough lol.

  3. So many hair colors in so little time. XD
