*Polite applause*

Anchor Bay has begun mailing out Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions replacement discs. If you emailed Anchor Bay requesting a replacement, you will soon receive it in the mail, if you haven’t already. As promised, the new Blu-ray and DVD have fixed the dubtitles found on the old discs when playing the movie in Japanese, replacing them with accurate subtitles just like those on Manga Entertainment UK’s releases. The replacement discs have an identical label to the old discs.

As a reminder, Anchor Bay is not recalling the old discs. It is unlikely that those original printings have sold out, and there is no word on when these replacement discs will hit store shelves or if it will even be possible to differentiate between a package containing an old and a new disc. So, if you want to guarantee yourself a copy of the movie without dubtitles, you must buy a copy of the movie now and email Anchor Bay for a replacement. It’s not too late to do so.

  1. As far as I’m aware, eOne has yet to reply to anyone inquiring about a replacement program for Canada lol.

  2. To save myself the trouble, I just bought UK edition on EBay to watch the correct subs. But honestly, Anchor Bay could’ve avoided all of this if they on their end had double check the product.

  3. The initial batch may have actually been recalled. Within the first week of release my local Walmart that I purchased from pulled all their blu-ray and DVD copies off the shelves. Two weeks later they reappeared but were not the same copies. I can tell by how smashed or not smashed the covers are. And all the blu-rays have a new yellow UPC sticker pasted over the old one. The DVDs don’t have this sticker. I was skeptical they’d actually be fixed, but after unexpectedly and impressively receiving my replacement copy in just a month after release it’s quite possible they are. As a side note, there seems to maybe be a missing subtitle line when Kaiba meets Aigami. Probably no big deal (I don’t know what they said).

  4. All I know is that when I first contacted Anchor Bay, I specifically asked if there would be a recall and wasn’t told that there would be. Then I followed up asking for details about finding the replacement in stores, and by the time I got a reply two weeks later, it was still “we do not have any additional comments at this time.” Maybe something has changed since then. That’d be nice. If you think you spot an error in the subs, please let 4K Media know (yugioh.com has a “Contact” link at the bottom of every page) so it can be fixed when it’s reprinted.

  5. Finished watching. Aside from that one missing line there are no errors. I know there is a major line missing, I just cannot understand Japanese well enough to know what was said. It could be unimportant or perhaps absorbed into the previous sentence. The SDH subtitles on the dub are identical to before, there are still a few minor typos here and there such as Ugi. The dubtitles from the first release had occasional typos too, but none were the same ones on the SDH script.
