This is how you bring in the new year — with a new English-dubbed trailer for Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions! Hear Aigami speak for the first time, learn the story that brings him and Yugi together, and check out some shots that were never played in the Japanese trailers! And are those the voices of Téa, Duke, and Bakura chatting it up like old times?

All of the original voice actors have returned!” said 4K Media on Facebook.

  1. Do they have some sort of contractual obligation to include the line ‘YOU’RE FINISHED!’ in everything they dub?

  2. Yes.

  3. Lol, I tried to link that video but couldn’t find it.
Anyway, I wonder why 4K Media still use their own music and sound effects. I had always assumed they did it because it’s less expensive, but now they pay for licensing the original soundtrack as well (to release the Japanese versions on Crunchyroll/DVD), don’t they?

  4. 4K Media (and 4Kids) is first and foremost in the licensing business. The company makes money when it sells its stuff to others here and around the world. It is tremendously valuable for 4K Media to have a product to sell that is completely its own — original music, original sound effects, original visuals, original English dialog track — because it can earn more money (royalties) than if it were simply selling something that already belongs to the Japanese companies. Going the extra mile to create all of these things is expensive. But ultimately, this extra effort must be financially worthwhile for 4K Media, if only because it keeps happening.

  5. I honestly can’t wait! Daniel J. Edwards sounds amazing as Aigami so far and I also love seeing everyone in the gang together again. The good news is, Orlando, FL will screen DSOD. Downside is, the tickets link redirects to the theater info page. I’m hoping tickets have not sold out in my area yet. I’m checking the site everyday to see if anything has changed for Orlando.

  6. If you want to hear more of Daniel using his “boy” voice, check out the movie Psychic School Wars. He plays one of the lead characters. To be honest, the story is kind of mediocre, but the dub cast is almost all Yu-Gi-Oh! actors so it’s awesome in that way.
Hooray for finding a local theater! I think it’s more likely that it’s still too early to buy tickets (some places only sell tickets a week in advance). Keep checking!
