Kaiba, Yugi, Dan Green, and Eric Stuart in a live performance of a Yu-Gi-Oh! DSoD scene at the 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship

This weekend’s 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship was historic for many reasons. But for fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, the event will be well remembered for its two special presentations from voice actors Dan Green and Eric Stuart.

On Saturday, Dan Green and Eric Stuart performed a scene from Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions live. Viewers joined Yugi and Kaiba mid-duel as they summon several new monsters in an attempt to one-up each other.

Then, earlier today, Yugi and Kaiba faced off in a scripted live duel. Clocking in at over 45 minutes, this battle is the longest (and most epic!) of the live duels to date. With both duelists augmenting their game with new summoning plays and plenty of new Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes support cards, this duel is truly one for the ages.

All weekend, attendees got to meet the voice actors for autographs and participate in 4K Media’s voice-over audition contest for a chance to win a speaking role in the movie.

Update (August 24): video links replaced with YouTube links from Konami.

  1. Dang, thanks for the heads-up about the length of the live duel. Hopefully I’ll have time to watch the whole thing this evening. It was so cute when Dan Green spun in a circle to represent Yugi’s transformation. xD

  2. The live duel is sooo good. You know, I honestly wasn’t as excited as other people when I first heard that Dan Green and Eric Stuart were going to be this weekend’s guests. Both of them have already attended previous tournaments and I wanted to see someone new. Plus, the result of the live duel felt like it’d be a foregone conclusion. But! After seeing this weekend play out, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so wrong. I should have never doubted the magic that Yugi and Kaiba bring to any event!

  3. Ohhh I finished watching, and you’re right, it was really good, definitely one of the most entertaining live duels I’ve seen in past years. I’m thrilled at how they combined old cards with new releases (and new Summoning methods even!), and the callback to the Ceremonial Duel really got me. Truly an A+ to whomever scripted the duel.

  4. That was super awesome! Eric Stuart’s hat had my attention the whole time. Also the dueling.

I kind of missed the music throughout most of the live duel, though. I’m glad they played some for the pivotal moments, but it just seemed bare with just the VAs talking most of the time.
