Yu-Gi-Oh! lunch box design mock-up from Aquarius Entertainment Merchandising

4K Media (Konami) announced yesterday that it has inked a deal with Canadian pop culture marketing firm Aquarius Entertainment Merchandising to develop a new line of Yu-Gi-Oh!-branded products. Aquarius will produce playing cards, puzzles, lunch boxes, wood magnets, and desktop standees featuring characters and designs from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. The products will be distributed by Aquarius’ California-based sister company NMR Distribution and sold through specialty and mass market retailers in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand beginning this spring or summer.

“The Yu-Gi-Oh! brand is so well known and has so many fans around the world,” said Aquarius president Konrad Hoenig in a press release. “We’re anticipating a very successful product launch and strong retailer support.”

Aquarius also produces similar types of merchandise for numerous other popular brands like Adventure Time, DC Comics, Harry Potter, and My Little Pony.

  1. Hearing this makes me feel like I’ve been transported back to 2002-2003 and my goodness. I remember seeing folders, binders, pencils, napkins, lunch boxes, backpacks, t-shirts, and a lot of other merch related to the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise years ago. It almost seems like Yu-Gi-Oh! is becoming popular once more and is making a comeback. Hopefully, my local Walmart or Target will carry some this merchandise.

  2. Totally. I still have a ton of old Yu-Gi-Oh! merch from back then. It’s awesome that there’s new merch being produced because it gives adults the opportunity to buy back parts of their childhood. A Yu-Gi-Oh! tin lunch box? That’s exactly the kind of collector’s item made for adults with disposable income. So cool.
