An official Yu-Gi-Oh! cafe will be launching in Tokyo later this year! Between April 2 and May 31, the AnimePlaza store in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro shopping and entertainment district will open a Yu-Gi-Oh!-themed cafe to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary. The venue will be decked out from floor to ceiling with Yu-Gi-Oh! decorations and will feature dishes inspired by the series’ characters and a slew of limited edition merchandise. Admission to the cafe is by online lottery, with any remaining vacant seats to be filled on a first-come, first-served basis at the store.
The cafe’s announcement, which appears in today’s issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, does not provide further details about the cafe. However, if the setting follows the same model as AnimePlaza’s previously organized themed cafes, it will include plenty of colorful food and drink and goods like posters, keychains, stickers, placemats, and coasters.
AnimePlaza has unveiled a webpage for its Yu-Gi-Oh! cafe (in Japanese) but it is still mostly blank. The AnimePlaza stores in Ikebukuro and Shibuya share the Twitter account @ad_anipla. Keep an eye on these as April inches closer to see more details and photos of what the Yu-Gi-Oh! cafe will offer its lucky patrons.
AnimePlaza’s “Collaboration Cafes” are the brainchild of ADORES, an entertainment company that produces and manages amusement establishments like video arcades and karaoke venues. AnimePlaza has opened cafes based on the Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!, Free! Eternal Summer, and Naruto Shippuden series, among others. Check out the past collaborations to see the menu items and anime goods that were available for those series.

Update (March 23): AnimePlaza’s website has updated to display the cafe’s full menu!
