Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba’s monsters are getting upgraded for the 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh! movie! Leaked images from the May issue of Shueisha’s V Jump magazine, which hits newsstands on March 21, reveal that Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician will be sporting new designs for the upcoming film. Blue-Eyes is looking rather formidable with a body plated with numerous scales and spikes, while Dark Magician gets the outfit and chiseled body seen in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Anniversary Pack Shonen Jump promo card and Duel Art book.

Details are still scarce about the new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, which was first announced in June 2014 and is scheduled to be released in 2016.

Update: The Dark Magician TCG card I referenced was not released in the Anniversary Pack. It was actually included as a promo with the April 2011 issue of VIZ Media’s Shonen Jump magazine. The Japanese OCG equivalent was released with the third 2009 issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Apologies for the confusion.

  1. A little disappointed with how Dark Magician looks. Blue Eyes look amazing though!

  2. I think they are trying to aim for a BLACK Magician VS Blue-Eyes WHITE Dragon color distinction. In Japan Dark Magician is called Black Magician which is the opposing color of the BEWD.

  3. makes sense :3 i love the new designs. i just hope they explain why their appearance has changed. lol
