Santa Claws is coming to town

There aren’t very many Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG cards that appear within a TCG video game before getting their first physical release in an English-speaking TCG country, but today, players of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Arena got just that. “Santa Claws” is now available digitally in English! Merry Christmas! Ho ho ho! (Or should it be “Graawh hah hah”?)

Santa Claws was first released in the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG in Japan at Jump Festa 2014 one year ago. But within the TCG territories, it has been released only in Germany as part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Adventskalender ZEXAL-Edition product, a special Christmas season item for this year. There has been no word on when Santa Claws will get a physical release in North America or other TCG territories.

Santa Claws’ stats are as follows:

  • Attribute: LIGHT
  • Level: 6
  • Type: Fiend/Effect
  • ATK: 1200
  • DEF: 2500
  • You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) to your opponent’s side of the field in Defense Position, by Tributing 1 monster they control. If Summoned this way, during the End Phase of this turn: You can draw 1 card.

If you’re feeling the spirit of the Satan season and would like to get your own digital copy of Santa Claws, complete any duel in Duel Arena by the end of December 25, game time (11:59 pm UTC/6:59 pm EST/3:59 pm PST).

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Arena is Konami’s free-to-play browser-based TCG simulator, which went live in June 2014.
