Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Manga Returns with One-Shot in VIZ’s Weekly Shonen JumpDecember 22, 2014 at 10:43 pm | Posted in GX, Yu-Gi-Oh! | Leave a comment
At last, their epic duel will be unveiled!
Although VIZ Media’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will be on break for the holidays next Monday, readers will get a special issue that includes a Yu-Gi-Oh! GX one-shot penned by Naoyuki Kageyama, author and illustrator of the GX manga series! Originally published in Shueisha’s V Jump magazine back in June 2014, the one-shot picks up where Kageyama’s manga ended. Jaden Yuki and his HERO cards will finally face off against his friend and mentor Koyo Hibiki to decide who will be the next world champion. New HERO cards will get in on the action, including WSJ’s next promo card, Elemental HERO Core.
WSJ subscribers will automatically get this special issue as a bonus, which doesn’t count as one of your regular issues. Non-subscribers can pick it up for 99 cents at VizManga.com or via the Shonen Jump app for iOS or Android. (You really should consider subscribing though. It’s hard to find a better deal than $25.99 for a year of weekly simulpubs, plus four Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG promo cards in the mail!)
Kageyama’s Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga series originally ran in Shueisha’s V Jump magazine from February 2006 to May 2011. The series’ 64 chapters were collected in nine graphic novels. VIZ Media serialized a little more than half of the chapters between 2007 and 2009 in its Shonen Jump print magazine, and released the entire series as graphic novel compilations between November 2007 and August 2012.
