Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings to everyone! Today, YUGIOH.com, the official website of all things Yu-Gi-Oh!, formally relaunched in beta mode with an all new look and a ton of new features. What a great holiday present! The redesigned website includes:
- A character database with details about the heroes and villains from every Yu-Gi-Oh! series.
- A massive listing of cards appearing in every series, which is integrated with the official Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Database and includes gorgeous artwork of anime-exclusive cards.
- Full episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s (dubbed and subbed), and Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL (dubbed and subbed), all streaming for free. (Currently available only to U.S. residents via Hulu embeds.)
- A news section with updates about the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and events, DVDs, and manga and other official announcements.
In the near future, expect to see even more anime characters and cards added to the database, information about various licensed Yu-Gi-Oh! merchandise and video games (which were included in the previous incarnation of the website), and more. Keep your eyes open for updates!
Earlier this month, a work-in-progress version of YUGIOH.com was leaked and picked up by Google’s spiders before being quickly locked down. The content needed first to be approved by the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh! licensors before going live, said a 4K Media rep, and a widespread leak would have delayed the approval process and launch. Forthcoming features will also need to be approved before going live.
YUGIOH.com first launched as its own unique website in January 2011. But after numerous months without any updates, it shut down and redirected to Toonzaki.com in July 2012. In October 2012, YUGIOH.com returned with a splash page (pictured below left) that teased fans and potential brand licensees with a “Coming Soon” message.
