Yusei is coming… to Blu-ray!

A 4K Media rep on the official Yu-Gi-Oh! Facebook Fan Page confirmed today that Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal will get the Blu-ray treatment from Cinedigm.

This clarification comes hot on the heels of Monday’s press release from Cinedigm and 4K Media, which revealed that the duo plans on releasing over 600 episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! on DVD and Blu-ray, but which confusingly neglected to explain which series would be released on which format.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal happen to be the two series whose uncut, original Japanese versions have seen subtitled releases from 4Kids and 4K Media on Hulu. It is unlikely, however, that these Japanese versions will be released on BD for the reasons I already discussed in the previous post and expanded upon in the comments.

There is still no word on whether or not the 10th anniversary Bonds Beyond Time movie will also be released on BD, but given that UK received such a BD in mid-2011, it would be silly not to release that same product in the U.S. and Canada.

Numerous comments posted earlier on the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Page have already indicated that Cinedigm will not be releasing classic Yu-Gi-Oh! and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX on Blu-ray. A dose of common sense would have a told you the same thing. ;)

  1. For all you yugioh fan I got some bad news 4 kid Entertainment has been reborn as 4 media but not all is lost cause they have a contact list on there homepage so with that being said maybe if we all Express that we want the original uncut version of yugioh Duel Masters of course with original opening and closing and everything the Japanese have maybe we can get a uncut version of the anime as well so with that being said and done tell everyone about this and have them send email after email after email expressing how much they we want a uncut version of the anime is a possibility that we could still save this anime so go to the website for Konami and sending them emails telling them that we want and uncut version of the anime we might be able to get one so go to your anime message boards & blogs and tell everyone to spread the word thank you

  2. It not fair that anime fan has to suffer due to the stupidity of a company is the real anime fans that goes out there to the anime convention cosplay convention and even buying the manga is the real anime fans that buy DVD boxset not the parents the parents are only going to buy the DVDs on holidays and birthdays I understand that 4k media & konomi Are targeting younger audience but is the anime fans That suffer due to their stupidity we want are anime original and uncut all the yugioh

  3. It is not necessary to inundate 4K Media with emails. That’s just an obnoxious thing to do. 4K Media (and previously, 4Kids) knows that there are fans that like the uncut Japanese versions. That’s why we have 5D’s and ZEXAL uncut. It is unfortunately unable to release Duel Monsters uncut because of problems on the Japanese licensors’ end. So unless that situation has changed, 4K Media’s hands are tied.

  4. any news on a respective release date for gx, 5ds and zexel. And i would just like to say well done to 4k media for giving us guys a chance to own yugi on dvd, would have been nice to get it uncut but i understand the issue so keep up the good work and dont keep us waiting to long lol

  5. Sorry, 4K Media hasn’t announced any dates yet.

  6. Will the boxsets be coming to the uk please let me no

  7. If they need a distributor the could get hmv to sell them hmv sells the yugioh movies and if they do could you please tell me asap

  8. Sorry, there hasn’t been any announcement about a release in the UK. HMV is a retailer. Companies like Anime Limited, MVM Films, Kaze, and Manga UK are distributors. Let them know that you want to see Yu-Gi-Oh! in the UK. If enough people show interest, who knows what might happen!

  9. Where do I go to do that

  10. If they do will you keep me update please

  11. I’m sure those companies all have social media channels (e.g. Twitter, Facebook) where you can connect with them. Google is your friend.
