The winning design of WizKids/NECA's Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Card Wallet

You voted and the results are in! Today, the Kickstarter project for the exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Card Wallet launched and is waiting for your pledges! The collectible miniatures games developer and manufacturer WizKids and its parent company, NECA, are seeking $80,000 in the next 42 days to bring the fan-designed product to life. The card wallet is an official product licensed by 4K Media (Konami) and the only place to get it is through this Kickstarter campaign. The funding period begins today and runs until October 2.

In addition to receiving a card wallet, backers can get a whole slew of extras for their pledges, including T-shirts, mugs, key chains, pins, and back sacks (many of which were on display at this year’s San Diego Comic Con) and — for the largest pledges — the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix sets and a meeting with WizKids/NECA employees. In true Yu-Gi-Oh! collectible fashion, the card wallet and other goodies come in multiple editions and rarities.

Back in June, WizKids/NECA asked Yu-Gi-Oh! players and fans to vote on the design elements that would make for the best card wallet for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The material, color, and interior and exterior features were all up for consideration, and the eight design elements up for voting averaged around 2,300 responses each.

I implore all Yu-Gi-Oh! fans to check out the Kickstarter project and consider making a pledge of any amount, even if you aren’t necessarily a fan of the TCG. This project by WizKids/NECA and 4K Media is the first-ever Yu-Gi-Oh! product whose design and manufacture has been crowdsourced. If we want to encourage more companies in the future to reach out to Yu-Gi-Oh! fans and build this type of intimate relationship, we need to support the progress that is being made and reward the companies for their forward thinking with our business. You can be sure that 4K Media will be following the progress of this Kickstarter project very closely.
