Announcement of the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 1 DVDs from the official Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Page on Facebook

Attention all San Diego Comic Con attendees! Wade through the crowd and head over to booth #1437 in the exhibit hall, where you can pre-order Season 1 of the classic Yu-Gi-Oh! series on DVD! This announcement came earlier today via the official Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Page on Facebook, where a rep also revealed that the DVD set will include all 49 of the English-dubbed broadcast (edited) episodes from the first season of the anime. The DVDs have a street date of September 10.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Page rep noted in the comments that they will have more information on the availability of the DVDs outside SDCC very soon, but eagle-eyed fans may have already noticed that Amazon and other major retailers have been taking pre-orders since late May. If you missed out on buying the original singles and season set that FUNimation released a decade ago, here’s your chance to redeem yourself! Further details about the DVDs are forthcoming.

In addition to the DVD pre-orders, Yu-Gi-Oh! is making a splash at SDCC with displays of new Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG products arriving later this year, including the Legendary Collection 4: Joey’s World set filled with memorable cards from the original anime, and the Saga of Blue-Eyes White Dragon structure deck.

Also coming this Fall are hot new goodies from NECA (the same company that’s crowdsourcing the design of the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG card wallet), including Yu-Gi-Oh! shirts, caps, lucite keychains, and pins, all of which are accented by stylish prints of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, and Kuriboh. These aren’t the kiddie-oriented items that you might remember from a decade ago!

What other goods have Yu-Gi-Oh! fans spotted at SDCC?

Update (July 19): All five seasons of Classic Yu-Gi-Oh! will be getting a new DVD release from Cinedigm!

  1. They obviously weren’t including the Japanese Dub since they wouldn’t even let 4Kids upload it when they held the rights. It’s a shame, but I can live without it. Definitely buying it!

  2. Same here. I’ll always support the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime!
