It’s the end of the month, so you know what that means: YouTube’s pesky copyright infringement-sniffing “bots” are at it again, terminating Little Kuriboh’s main YouTube channel, CardGamesFTW, this morning. As with his previous account deletions, the automated claims came from Nihon Ad Systems, Inc. (NAS), one of the Japanese producers of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. But this has happened several times before, so it’s no big deal, right? Well, maybe. Maybe not.
Two weeks ago, LK noted that his account was one strike away from being banned again. He also made it clear that CardGamesFTW might not return because of changes to YouTube’s DMCA copyright counter-notification system.
“It looks like YouTube’s counter claim system has gotten more complex. They’ve made it impossible to resubmit counter claims,” LK tweeted. “Kinda screws people like me who get Copyright claims up the wazoo due to automated bots. This means that if my account goes down again there’s a fair chance I won’t get it back unless I contact someone at YouTube directly.”
Even if CardGamesFTW isn’t reinstated, you can still find all of Little Kuriboh’s major video projects on his official Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Blip.tv account. Check my YGOTAS streams and downloads pages for a neat listing of most of those videos. Additionally, you can find many of LK’s works on his other YouTube channels, his most commonly used being Ninjabridge and ObeyMyRod.
After some initial struggles, Little Kuriboh also made a new backup YouTube channel, “LittleKuriboh,” at: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZzXTv6tbD_VVwcaUuu8rFw.
LK will be gradually filling that backup account with all of his YGOTAS videos. LK had made a video alerting his fans of the new account, but since it was posted on CardGamesFTW, it’s now unavailable. Maybe he should have uploaded it to his other channels as well. :P
CardGamesFTW has now been terminated from YouTube eight times. The most recent incident was on June 25.
