Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is now on Hulu! The Toonzaki crew announced today that the first two seasons (episodes 1 through 104) of the English-dubbed series have made their way to the popular video streaming service, and that the third season (episodes 105 through 155) should be up by the end of the week. Toonzaki is currently still streaming its older, in-house hosted encodes, but the video portal will be updated after the holidays to point to the new, higher-quality Hulu videos.
This move may have been made in preparation for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX’s upcoming subtitled releases. (Yes, they’re in the works! I forgive you if you missed the unextravagant revelation, since I tacked that bit of news onto an unrelated update.) 4Kids will need to use Hulu’s captioning system to deliver the subtitles. Having both the subbed and the dubbed episodes on Hulu is probably a matter of convenience, since each show’s page on Toonzaki can’t currently list videos from more than one source. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s didn’t merge its subbed and dubbed pages until early November after all of the available dubbed episodes were re-encoded and uploaded to Hulu.
So, could the premiere of the subbed episodes be just around the corner? Maybe Toonzaki will hold another Facebook fan drive once they’re ready!
Oh, and yes, 4KidsTV.com still has all of the dubbed Yu-Gi-Oh! GX episodes as well, but if you’re reading this, you’ll probably be more entertained by the shows on Toonzaki.
