Yugi, Yami, the three Legendary Knights, and Dark Magician Girl against a sunset backdrop in episode 184

A Greek-flavored Yu-Gi-Oh! tale of international mystery and ancient magic comes to an end. The concluding episodes of the dub’s fourth season were made available today on the official 4Kids YouTube channel.

With the help of Critias, Timaeus, and Hermos — the Legendary Knights of Atlantis — Yami is able to defeat Dartz and his Divine Serpent, freeing the spirits of Yugi and his friends! Like all crafty villains however, Dartz escapes, then proceeds to raise Atlantis from its watery grave. Yugi, Kaiba, and Joey give chase, only to discover that Dartz has given his own soul to revive the Great Leviathan! The trio send their monsters into combat, but they are no match for the gigantic beast. They need more power! Ultimately, however, this may be more than just a battle of strength between monsters. To truly defeat Dartz and the Leviathan, the pharaoh may have to go one step further: prove that he is free of the evil unleashed within him when he used the Orichalcos’ dreadful powers…

Experience the horror that is Dartz’s Leviathan! Cower in fear as our heroes are sucked into the belly of the beast! Yawn as the gratuitous amount of flashback footage is played! Head over to my page for dubbed Yu-Gi-Oh! streams or to YouTube’s Shows section for all of the episode links.

Yu-Gi-Oh! fans seem somewhat divided on how enjoyable this season is and how relevant it is to the overall mythos of the series. Regardless, the story arc is probably best summarized by a nameless military officer in episode 177:

[W]e tracked you kids down because we need your help dealing with a worldwide threat. Crazy as it sounds, we think our only hope may lie in a card game.

These immortal words were taken straight from one of Plato’s dialogues. I’m sure of it.
