A spooked Jounouchi falling into Honda's arms in episode 5

…Sort of. Actually, Ryoutarou Okiayu, the voice actor for Hiroto Honda in the 1998 Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, will be a guest of honor at this weekend’s Yaoi-Con! Okiayu, a prolific voice actor, has lent his skills to well over 200 animated productions and just as many videos games! His most recognized anime roles include Byakuya Kuchiki (Bleach), Dark Mousy (D.N.Angel), Shigure Souma (Fruits Basket), Scar (Fullmetal Alchemist), Yuu Matsuura (Marmalade Boy), and Hisashi Mitsui (Slam Dunk). Okiayu’s lead roles in yaoi titles include K (Gravitation), Samejima Ranmaru (Kizuna), Joshua Grant (Marginal Prince), and Hiroto Honda (Yu-Gi-Oh!).

This is Okiayu’s first appearance at a North American convention. How many Japanese voice actors who played major or semi-major characters in the two original Yu-Gi-Oh! series have attended conventions on this side of the planet? With Okiayu’s upcoming appearance, the grand total will increase to… eight! Cheers to any Yu-Gi-Oh! fans who will be meeting Okiayu! You’ll be a part of Yu-Gi-Oh! history! Though if you’re planning to ask him questions about his voicing Honda, you may have to remind him who that is, heh.

Yaoi-Con 2010, the convention’s tenth anniversary, will take place on October 29 through 31 in Burlingame, California.
